News & Events – tcVISION Version 2.0 - Highlights
tcVISION Version 2 provides the following new functions:
Script Wizard
The ease-of-use of the creation of processing scripts has been even more improved. Script generation now becomes a very intuitive task. The Script Wizard intelligently helps you in the definition process of scripts and knows what processing options to offer based upon the definitions that have already be made. The Script Wizard now comes with a dynamic online tutorial. Descriptive texts will automatically become part of the dialog and help the user to understand the script parameter.
Project Wizard
A new Project Wizard assists the user in the creation of projects for the monitoring and display of selected tcVISION desktops. It further helps during the creation of more complex scripts and components used for "BULK-Transfers", "Batch-Compare", "Realtime-synchronisation" and "Processing of logfiles".
Integrated Scheduler
The Scheduler has been an independent application. In Version 2 ist has been integrated into the tcVISION Control Board.
New DBMS-Extensions
Several new DBMS-Extensions are part of Version 2. DBMS-Extensions are tcVISION components that capture changes in realtime and pass the changes to the tcVISION Proagation Engine.
The following are new extensions:
DL/I Batch VSE
The extension automatically captures changes applied by batch application programs to DL/I databases. The tcVISION DLI/BATCH DBMS-Extension TVSDLIBX must be specified instead of the "original" application program that should be called in the control -SYSIPT-statement of the Batchjob. During execution the DBMS-Extension reads ONE parameter statement from SYSIPT. The orginal application program must be specified in this statement. All parameter statements that follow the statement used by the DBMS-Extension can be read by the application program.
VSAM-Batch VSE
The extension automatically capures changes for VSAM files that have been performed by batch application rpograms. The VSAM-Batch Extension is activated through VSE-parameter for selected partiotns or system-wide. To activate the tcVISION VSAM/BATCH DBMS-Extension the standard exit IKQVEX01.PHASE is used. If an exit of that name already exists, the module must be renamed to USRVEX01.PHASE. The tcVISION VSAM/BATCH DBMS-Extension checks during initialisation whether this renamed phase exists and passes control to it after processing has completed.
Restart Processing
For realtime processing of changed data it is mandatory that scripts continuously operate even they are remote to each other. Version 2 contains a restart processing feature that steps in when TCP/IP errors or-problems occur. It guarantees that the communication between scripts will be automtically restarted and processing continues at the originating point of failure.
