BOS-skip

Application Management Solution for CICS applications 
under IBM MVS, VSE and OS/390

BOS-skip allows a user to establish up to 10 CICS applications at the same time. This allows a user to interrupt one transaction, use other transactions freely, and then return to the first at the exact point he left. The application skipping ability significantly increases the efficieny of CICS users. In addition, BOS-skip provides a user-friendly data transfer facility allowing to exchange data across application without any programming effort. 

 

BOS-skip is a resource effective solution. It is designed to be used by a broad spectrum of users. Unlike session management solutions having their roots outside of CICS, BOS-skip allows users to have multiple sessions without increasing the system load. To manage multiple transactions BOS-skip requires only a single user definition in CICS, a single TCT entry and no additional VTAM addresses per user.

The Technical Concept

When leaving an application its resources will be safely stored by BOS-skip and the system resources will be released. The application will be restored when the user enters the session again. 

 

An easy to tailor product design allows to customize BOS-skip individually to each CICS environment in accordance with the specific user requests. 

 

BOS-skip is remarkably simple to use and does not require any additional training. Users quickly become familiar with BOS-skip.

Technical Requirements

 

Operating systems supported:
OS/390, MVS/ESA, MVS/XA, VSE-ESA, VSE-SP 
with CICS version 1.7 and higher or CICS/ESA version 3.1 and higher or CICS TS version 1.1 and higher
Installation:
-Loading the BOS-skip source and load modules
-Defining a VSAM file and supplementing CICS tables PPT, PCT and FCT resp. defining RDO definitions (supplied with installation tape)
-BOS-skip can be tailored to the individual system environment by the provided online customization menu
