tcJANET – Innovative Web-Host Connectivity
using a Java emulation
Why tcJANET ?
Today nearly every workplace is equipped with a PC running an Internet Browser like Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. It makes a lot of sense to use this technology for accessing the traditional IBM-Mainframe applications. For the end user, this technology greatly simplifies this task.
With tcJANET it is possible, to access multiple Mainframe applications simultaneously - with the same look and
feel.
The advantages of the Java base terminal emulation tcJANET
Contrary to PC-Mainframe-connectivity solutions, which require a high degree of administrational care-taking and hence result in high costs, tcJANET allows the simple and cost effective implementation of an enterprise wide Web-Host-Connectivity solution. For a PC- based Host connectivity, the software to access the mainframe is locally installed on every PC. Imagine the amount of work involved, if the software must be upgraded because of a new version or release. The software must be distributed, locally installed and configured.
Using tcJANET there is no need for software distribution and all costs related to this are completely eliminated. tcJANET can be installed and configured centrally on a Web-Server. No installation and configuration is required on the local end- user PC, hence no local maintenance. tcJANET will be automatically downloaded to the desktop of the end- user, as soon as he establishes a mainframe connection.

Based on the technical concept of tcJANET authorized users around the world can access IBM-Mainframe applications using a standard Browser (like Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator).
Fast and simple installation of tcJANET
Installing tcJANET is a simple task and can be done within minutes. The tcJANET modules can be centrally installed on a Web-Server, or they can be installed and configured as an application on File-Server or locally on a users desktop. If tcJANET has been implemented on a Web-Server, it will be automatically downloaded to the desktop of the user establishing a connection to the Mainframe. tcJANET runs as an applet inside the Browser. Using tcJANET’s re-director facility, implementation of 2 or 3-tier solutions is simple. The tcJANET concept is extremely flexible and allows for an optimal implementation into any existing system environment.
No additional security mechanism are necessary when using tcJANET. It can be easily integrated into any existing security concept.
